LAID

The LAID FAQ

Know the Wall

Say it. Lay it. Walk away. Here is how it works.

Make it yours

Can I @mention someone?

Yes. Type @ and start their username in a brick or reply, then choose a suggestion. Mentions link to profiles and notify up to five people when the post is public. Held posts wait for approval. Blocks and self-mentions do not send alerts. Phone alerts follow your notification setting.

How do I choose an avatar?

Open your profile, choose Change avatar, select a brick character, then Save profile. All 20 static avatars are free. Foundation and Gold artwork do not grant badges or posting credits.

Where did the three dots go?

Hold a brick to open its actions. On desktop, right-click it, or focus it with Tab and press Shift+F10. A normal tap still opens replies. You can copy text from the same menu.

Can I remove my own brick?

Yes. Hold your brick on the wall or in your profile, choose Remove brick, and confirm. It disappears from public views and your profile, and its replies are hidden. Moderation records are retained. Gold posts used are not refunded; earned Foundation tags and referral rewards stay with the account.

Built from the ground up

What does the Foundation tag mean?

Foundation recognizes the first 100 people to publish a brick on LAID. Your tag appears beside your name on bricks, replies, and your profile. Existing bricklayers count; demo accounts do not.

Can I earn Foundation by signing up?

Lay your first public brick while a Foundation spot is still available. Bricks held for review qualify when approved. The tag stays with your account and never boosts votes or reach.

Bring a friend. Lay gold.

How do referrals work?

Copy or share your invite link from your profile. A new friend must sign up through it and lay their first public brick. You earn 5 gold posts and your friend earns 1, once per friend. Existing accounts and self-referrals do not qualify; invitations must be linked within 24 hours of signup and before posting.

How do I use gold posts?

Choose Gold under Style when laying a brick. Each successfully saved gold brick uses one gold post, including a brick held for review. Failed submissions use none. Your remaining balance is on your profile and in Style.

Does gold get more attention?

Gold is a visual treatment only. It does not change voting, ranking, moderation, or reach. Unused gold posts stay in your balance.

A word under the brick

Can I comment on a brick?

Tap the brick text or Comment to open its replies. Sign in to leave a text-only reply of up to 240 characters. Replies stay one level deep and go through the same moderation checks as bricks.

Can I turn replies off?

Yes. Open your brick and choose Turn replies off. Existing replies remain visible, but new ones cannot be added. You can reopen replies later or remove individual replies under your brick.

How do I report a reply?

Use Report beneath a reply while signed in. Held and reported replies go to the moderator queue. A held reply is visible to its author and moderators, not the public.

Where did the style options go?

Tap Style in the composer for free brick and lettering colors. The text box comes first, and Lay it stays at the bottom of the composer.

First brick?

What is LAID?

A shared wall for thoughts, vents, jokes, and things you need to get off your chest. Say it. Lay it. Walk away.

What can I post?

A brick is a text-only post of up to 240 characters. No photo, video, or audio uploads. Just words on the wall.

Do I need an account?

You can read the public Wall without signing in. Sign in to lay bricks and use voting, reporting, hiding, and blocking.

Do I need followers?

No. LAID does not have follows or follower counts. You do not need to build an audience before laying your first brick.

Talk brick to me

Lay a brick? Bricklayer?

Laying a brick means posting. A bricklayer is someone who posts. The Wall is where public bricks come together.

What are the Wall views?

The Wall mixes freshness, votes, and discovery. Freshly Laid shows newest bricks first. Most Laid sorts by net votes. Random mixes things up.

What does ‘still setting’ mean?

It is our phrase for a brick held for review. It stays visible to its author, but is not on the public Wall. Saving a brick does not guarantee public distribution.

What does ‘through the window’ mean?

Our slang for a brick taking off. It is an expression, not a current badge or a promise of reach.

Can I cement a brick?

Cement is an idea for future permanence. It is not currently available, and it would not buy votes or reach.

Who can see it?

Why can I see my brick when others cannot?

Some bricks are held for moderation and stay visible only to their author outside the moderation team. Seeing a brick on your profile does not mean it is public. It may later be published or removed.

Is LAID private or anonymous?

Public bricks appear with your username and can be read without an account. Other people can copy or screenshot them. A username is not a guarantee of anonymity, so leave out details you do not want connected to you.

Will everyone see my brick?

No. Public visibility does not guarantee views. Wall ordering and moderation affect distribution.

Before you lay

Can I vent or swear?

Yes. You can be frustrated, blunt, or funny. Keep threats, targeted harassment, hateful targeting, personal information, sexual exploitation, scams, and spam off the Wall. The community rules explain the boundaries.

What if a brick crosses the line?

Use the brick menu to report it for moderation, hide it from your Wall, or block its writer. Reporting does not guarantee removal.

Why do I have to wait before posting again?

The mortar needs a minute. Posting limits help keep the Wall readable: up to five bricks in ten minutes and sixty in twenty-four hours.

Does this FAQ replace the community rules?

No. This is the quick guide to using LAID. Read the community rules for the content boundaries and moderation details.
